Faswiba my new favorite system

June 27, 2009 in Eve Online by Phaine

Yesterday morning we got a wormhole to my new favorite system in eve, Faswiba. Im taking a class this summer semester, so I tend to be up early and usually way before anyone else. Soloing sleepers usually tends to be unprofitable, and one can only nom on so many rocks. So I figured PvP time.

I snagged Pyrinea’s helios, Pyrostasis in his deimos, and set out for adventure. There were about 16 in system when I first jumped Pyrinea in. I usually leave Pyro on our side of the wormhole so as not to alarm the locals, and once I have a target scanned down he comes in to offer an official RQI greetings with drones and blasters.

First target I found was a megathron with T1 drones and rails in a plex. I sat off him at about 40 contemplating. If he’s using rails and T1 drones he’d be an easy kill for my deimos, but with 16 in local, and not knowing how many might come to his aid, I didnt think I’d be able to kill him fast enough to escape the oncoming calvary. Damn you project for not being logged in!

So I went back to scanning, and sure enough there is a nice lil hulk at a grav site all by himself. Few moments later I have him at a warpable signature and recall my probes, dont want the little bugger getting smart and seeing them on scan. Shortly there after Pyro lands on top of the little bugger, and he dies before I can even get my drones launched. Pyro loots, scoots, and back through the wormhole.

Well apparantely the hulk pilot was an untagged friend of some of the <Volt> members in system. Soon we had a Dom, 2 Myrms, a carrier, vagabond, and a mega hunting for me. I have to give them kudos for locating the wormhole, most think we simply jumped system.

So they park the Vagabond outside orbiting our hole, and he attacked one of our members coming back from a supply run, and we simply cant have that. We assembled a small fleet of six on our side, and then all jumped at the same time. He was definitely looking for a fight, but I dont think he was quite ready for our little mini armada.

We had just locked him up and gotten points on him, when we see a falcon uncloak, however, before I could say anything about him (namely shoot him keep vaga pointed) he warps out. WTF? We had a raven, deimos, drake, caracal, kessie, and a blackbird. They had a Mega, a dom, a Vaga, a falcon, and a damn carrier but they chose not to engage.  Leaving the poor vagabond to die alone.

After the vaga dies, they pretty much left the system and gave the ground to us, and boy did we have a blast. Apparently the system is a level 2 and 3 mission hub, so we had a fairly decent string of  missioners to feed off of and racked up several kills.

The highlight of my evening, was this hulk. I picked him up on scan, and did my usual warp to 30, however, in my haste I didnt realize that he was on the other side of a grav site from me, so I ended up INSIDE the damn asteroid belt on my covops. Since she has no tackle on her, this usually would mean I lose out on the hulk.

Well not with this guy. I bounced off a roid coming in, hit the mwd, let it tick for a sec and was recloaked, total time uncloaked… maybe 6 seconds. Pyro jumps through the wormhole and is in route to Pyrinea, the whole time Im chanting dont warp away, dont warp away…and surely enough he didnt.

I come out at 8km from the guy, slap on the scram and web, and usually this is where the hulk does the whole snap, crackle, pop routine and I get an easy kill. Well…not with this guy. He’s actually tanking fairly well, and sicked drones on me. A hulk that can tank? Wha?! Well, Im thinking at this point…ok what kind of hulk not only doesnt warp away when a covops royal screws the pooch and unstealths, AND has a tank that can almost withstand 700dps. Thats right…bait. At this point I’m think trap. But there is no local spike, and he isnt scraming me. Finally about 30 seconds later I get through his shields and he pops. I go to snag his loot, and see why the little bugger was such a pain, T2 hardeners and a faction fit shield booster.

After the kill I talked to the guy in local, and apparently he had “just looked away for a second” which is why he missed Pyrinea’s snafu, talk about good luck on my part. Hopefully we get another nice hole today!
